When we were both cats.

Take comfort in knowing
these romantic designs I draw
are perhaps the last rippling echo
of another lifetime.

Magnetized
am I
however,
unsummoned.

This time around
streetlights
keep me company
winking
off
or
on
as I pass
beneath.

I wish I knew
were we
two?

Tonight,

I will ask my dreams
they know me better
from
before.
